Get to know James Hughes, director and secretary of the World Transhumanist Association, Executive Director of the Institute for Ethics and Emerging Technologies, and author of Citizen Cyborg: Why Democratic Societies Must Respond to the Redesigned Human of the Future. Great podcast! A big Thank You to James: we all appreciate the work that you do!
I wish to thank Michael Anissimov for granting me an interview. After a little game of email tag we finally got there!
It’s a humble beginning for what I hope will become a leading podcast in the Singularity arena. After the interview with Michael last night I just couldn’t help myself. I had to get it out to you folks right away. Well, my impatience is your education and entertainment….click ‘play now’ and enjoy! (If you want to download it for your iPod or other mp3 player just click ‘download’) As always, comments are welcome!
Any person or organization wishing to sponsor the Podcasting the Singularity audio podcast with a spot in the ‘cast should contact me (Chris Williamson) via email: bloggingthesingularity|a|gmail.com
I really enjoy researching the latest news and condensing the most pertinent and interesting for you guys to digest. That’s just not enough, though.
As I read these news stories, I think about the people who are making it all happen. I think of the scientists and researchers who plug away everyday driven to discover and invent. I want to probe the minds of the Transhumanist philosophers. I want to get in touch with those who are closest to the Technological Singularity and Transhumanism and give them a platform from which to share their thoughts with others.
At the same time I want to create a podcast that Singulatarians and Transhumanists would really enjoy and look forward to listening to. I don’t know yet if every show is going to follow the same format or not. I know most series of podcasts do but I think it would be more interesting if it were unpredictable. I’m sure input from listeners can help guide the process.
Now that I’ve got the equipment running correctly I can record telephone interviews with good quality and I’ve gotten the recordings in my studio to sound as clear as a radio show host.
My vision for this series is to become a valuable resource in the community. Stay tuned…Podcasting the Singularity #01 will be coming your way in a week or two!
Any suggestions or insights are appreciated! Who would YOU like to hear interviewed in a podcast?
I am happy to announce the new Podcasting the Singularity
podcast series!
‘Blogging the Singularity’ and ‘Podcasting the Singularity’ are new, and I thought I’d start with the basics. In Episode #01, I ask, “What is the Singularity” and proceed to give the answer out of Ray Kurzweil’s ‘The Singularity is Near: When Humans Transcend Biology’
This will give newcomers to this concept a foothold with which to begin their journey of learning about the Singularity.
In the future (no pun intended!), I will have some great interviews for you. I promise that I will try to fill each podcast with informative and entertaining dialog.
This IS my very first podcast ever so be forgiving of the quality, it will only get better!
